As you can probably guess from the new name above, 2011 represents a massive shift in direction for our show. Due to a very late Easter in 2011, we are unable to put on the usual show at the Sydney Showgrounds. Instead, the Royal Agricultural Society, owners of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, have invited us to be part of their event.

On a trial basis, for one day only, for the first time ever at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, there will be a Frog & Reptile Pavilion.

If ever there was an opportunity for this hobby to grow, this is surely it. If the 2011 Frog & Reptile Pavilion proves popular with the general public, then it will become a permanent fixture, and across more days at future events.

Now instead of exposure to tens of thousands of people, we move into the realm of hundreds of thousands. Just imagine how many new keepers will want to buy your animals or products.

With only one day allocated for this trial run, we have decided that it would not be feasible to present a full blown Frog & Reptile Show in keeping with previous years. Instead we will concentrate on the Best in Show competition.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is considered by many to be the pinnacle of 'Best in Show' competitions, with everything from cats & dogs, to exotic chickens & rodents being judged for a chance to be the best. Now for the first time, frogs & reptiles will join this menagerie of animals.

As in the past, entry into the competition is open to all keepers, young & old, professional or hobbyist. With independent judging, and hidden ownership, you can be assured of a fair competition.

Entries will be restricted to 120 animals from the list of classes. Your animal must be well kept & in a healthy condition. Initial judging to determine acceptance into the show will be based on submitted photos of each animal. Animals displaying good husbandry and health will be invited to compete.

Each person who enters one or more animals into the competition will receive one general admission pass to the show for the day of the competition.

In addition to the prestige of winning at The Sydney Royal Easter Show, we hope to add some magnificent sponsor's prizes into the mix as well.

The competition will be held on the 27th of April 2011. Entries commence now, pre judging will take place 1st of April, and invitations to compete will be sent out 5th of April. If you are invited to compete, an entry fee of $35 per animal will be required. This will reduce to $25 for a keeper who enters 3 or more animals in their name.

If you would like to enter your animal or animals into the 2011 Sydney Royal Australian Frog & Reptile Show, then send us a good clear photo(s) of your animal to info@wildexpo.com.au. Please keep the file size of each photo to below 1mb. Include with your entry, along with your contact details, the common name & scientific names of animal being entered, and the class it will compete in.
